Linea (or. Latin)~ mn. line or stripe
Some stones just beg for you to create something new. They speak to you the moment you first see them, and then patiently wait, sometimes for years, to be set. Such is the story with this unique 1.46ct pale yellow Montana sapphire cut by John Dyer. So I decided to try something new and made a marriage of sorts between the Striata and Wide Column Solitaire rings. This stone craved a linear design to accentuate the cut. The result is the perfect modern substitute for a diamond solitaire.
Set in 14k Blonde gold so as to create a tonal "blonde on blonde" effect. Sandblasted recessed areas and polished highlights. The band measures 5.8mm wide. It is 2.7mm thick where it meets the setting, and gradually thins to 2.1mm in the back. The stone has a pyramid like top. The total height of the setting, from the very top of the stone to underside of the ring measures 6mm but the increased thickness of the band at the setting makes it feel like a much lower profile.
